BEST NEET COUNSELING TIPS EVER!
Hi NEET ASPIRANT!!!!
Don't worry much about NEET Counseling,
Because I'm here with you!
- Once you are done with NEET and are waiting for the results, collect all your documents-
- Admit cards,
- Marksheets,
- Pass Certificates,
- Migrations for both 10th and 12th,
- Domicile Certificate (in particular Proformas, if any, signed no later than as mentioned in the state councelling websites),
- Reservation Certificates (ST, SC, OBC, EWS), Character certificate, Birth Certificate, etc.
- Get the Proformas signed by School Principal, if any. Get attestations done beforehand.
- Since, NEET is over go through the official councelling websites to see opening and closing ranks for various colleges for last two years to get an idea(They are available in archives usually). DO NOT TALLY RANKS WITH SCORES AS THEY DIFFER WITH PAPER DIFFICULTY.
- No point trying rank predictors, you will know yours when the time comes.
- Once the results are out, make sure to visit the official councelling sites atleast once a day to avoid missing out notifications. Get yourself registered and fill choices in time because if you miss this, you miss your seat and let go an year.
- For choice filling-
- You can look for the traditional priority order online but do not follow it blindly.
- I would suggest to look through the previous year councelling results and try securing a seat first, you can always upgrade but not being allotted a college can trigger anxiety.
- As for order of choice filling, there is no rule other than filling the one you are almost sure to get a seat at last and the colleges you ‘want’ a seat in before that. This is because, as of what I know about the allottment procedure, they check if the candidate with the given rank gets a seat according to the order filled by the candidate himself and when they find a seat, it gets allotted and the process arrests. The colleges filled after that are not checked for. So, if you fill the college you are almost sure of first then you might get the seat but they won’t check your eligibility for the colleges filled next at all.
- Moreover, the order is purely based on individual choices. People from a certain rank bracket apply for a certain college because people before them did so. Most state colleges are essentially similar, the difference is due to the students. If high rankers choose a particular college, the results are bound to be better due to the fierce compitition and in some years it becomes a brand. So, instead of getting swayed by lists available online, make one for yourself considering-
- City Or Town it is located in(whether you are willing to go there),
- Travelling(you definately will be going back home be it everyday or once in a few months),
- Distance from home and,
- Hostel availablity(Most colleges are reluctant to allot hostels to students living near but considerably far for everyday travel),
- Fees and Bonds(Very very important),
- Culture,
- Food and,
- Language (if you are choosing a college in a different state, make sure you take this into account) And,
- any other practicle points you want to consider.
- Incase, offered a choice between seats for two private colleges, carefully calculate the expenses incurred and not blindly go by the tution fees mentioned.
- Once, colleges are allotted. Get the admissions done and then sit back and relax. Incase of upgradations, get done With the procedure as mentioned in the Councelling Websites.
In a month or so from then, you will be in your college :)
Congratulations! You just made it through. Treat yourself with your favourite food.
